Acetic acid is a hygroscopic liquid, which freezes below 16.6 ºC , it colorless and has a pungent odor (vinegar like). It dissolves in water, ethanol, ether, glycerin, acetone, benzene and carbon tetrachloride. It is insoluble in carbon sulfide. It results from oxidation, from ethylic alcohol. This acid has a predominant location within organic chemistry, similar to that of sulfuric acid within heavy chemical industry.
