Description

Sorbitol is a liquid of syrup-like consistency, limpid in appearance, colorless, viscous, pH neutral and free from suspended particles. It has a sweet and refreshing flavor. It is water, glycerin and propylene glycol soluble.

t is a natural product that may be found in several fruits such as cherry, pear and peach. Extracting sorbitol from these natural sources is not feasible in economic terms; it is therefore, manufactured industrially by means of glucose catalytic hydrogenation.

- Tooth-paste and emollients manufacture in the cosmetic industry.

- Sweetener and moisture regulator in the food industry.

- Suppository and syrup manufacture in the medical industry.

- Adhesive, cosmetic, tobacco and cellulose products humectant.

- Ingredient of glycol based anti-freeze compounds.

- Sugar crystallization inhibitor.

- Urethane resins and rigid foams manufacture.

- Leather softener and humectant.

- Glycerin substitute in several processes and products.

- Ingredient in the explosives industry.

- Basic raw material for Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) industrial manufacture.

- Emulsifier and hydrophilic and oleophilic surfactants manufacture.

- Iron, steel and copper sequestering agent in alkaline solutions.

- Humectant in textile printings.

- Gum and jelly based products plasticiser.
