It is a clear, colorless liquid, with a characteristic fruity odor. Like the rest of the acetic acid esters, it is produced by combining acetic acid and isopropylic alcohol, in the presence of a catalyst. It is sold in bulk and packed.
Uses
- Production of printing inks for the graphic industry.
- As nitrocellulose and other esters or cellulose ethers solvent, for its use in several industries, such as, the ceramic, textile, leather, adhesive, metallurgic, paper industry, among others.
- For the manufacture of thinner in the paint industry.
- Used in organic synthesis.
- Ingredient in the perfume industry.
- In electronics, with insulating objectives and in the manufacture of electric machinery and equipment.
- In place of ethyl acetate, for explosive manufacture.
