Uses
- In the production of phenol resins, phenol molding powders, urea molding powders, urea resins, insulating foams for the plastic and wood industries (plywood).
- Preservative in gums, adhesives, jellies and juices.
- In the manufacture of sizings and as reducing agent in the chemical industry (for example for gold and silver recovery).
- Disinfection in farms and poultry breeding centers.
- For the production of ethylene glycol, pentaerytritol, hexamethylenetetramine, acetaldehyde, cellulose esters and many other organic products.
- In the manufacture of fertilizers, embalming fluids and biocides.
- Corrosion inhibitor in oil wells.
- Reagent for the manufacture of various colorings.
- Ingredient of printing inks.
- Ingredient of fungicide preparations.
- Leather hardener and preservative.
- In the cosmetic industry, as an ingredient of antiperspirants and deodorants.
- In the photographic industry, it is used in developing compositions – together with hydroquinone – as negative and printings hardener.
- Vulcanizing process accelerator.
