In Argentina , Atanor has synthesized 2.4-D acid since 1954 in its plant located in Río Tercero ( Province of Cordoba ) by means of a highly integrated process. 2.4-D acid is then used to formulate different herbicides in San Nicolás factory (in the Province of Buenos Aires). Atanor is the sole MERCOSUR 2.4 D producer and is the sole worldwide 2.4-D industrially integrated producer. See Industrial Process.

Atanor ranks second in worldwide 2.4-D output. More than a half of its manufacture is exported to different countries, the most important of which are USA and Brazil in terms of exported volumes.
